Random Beauty: Bright Sun and Icy Branches

Random Beauty

The other day I was thinking of last December. I went through some photos to remind myself of everything that happened and ran into this gem. At the very end of last year, we were treated to gorgeous, glittering woods after snowfall:

Bright Sun through Icy Branches

It was really hard to get the light and shadow balanced well; this is one of my better shots, I think, in that respect. The light on the icy trees is so beautiful!

As you most likely know, tomorrow is the election day for the 45th President of the United States.

This cycle has been not only ugly, it has been vicious. I have thoughts, but since I barely understand the electoral system here, I’ll not embarrass myself publicly. I will be glad that it’ll be over, and that’s a huge understatement!

I do have to say this: NO to racism. NO to sexism and misogyny. NO to homophobia, transphobia and xenophobia.

Lauren Spark was asked by her mother to create an embroidery of Van Gogh’s The Starry Night. The results are stunning!

The direction and hues of the stitches are spot on, even on the black tree where they are difficult to see. Very impressive! I’m not surprised it took her almost 60 hours to finish. Visit her Tumblr for more pics of the process.

Note: I wasn’t paid or perked to mention this; just passing along a good thing.
